supplemental chromium yeast and / ormannan oligosaccharides in growing quail diets
Authors
abstract
to evaluatethe effects of supplementing diets of growing japanese quails (n=450; 7 days old) with chromium (cr) yeast and / or mannan oligosaccharides (mos) on productive performance, carcass traits and the immune system are reported. diets were a basal diet (control) or the basal diet supplemented with 600 mg cr-yeast/kg (cr 1), 1200 mg cr-yeast/kg (cr 2), 1.0 g mos/kg, cr 1 + mos or cr 2 + mos. quails fed cr 1, mos or cr 1 + mos diets had similar final live body weight and weight gain, with both groups being higher than the control. feed conversion tended to be improved with dietary supplements. carcass traits did not differ among treatments. primary and secondary humoral immune responses of quails fed the supplemented diets were higher than the control. plasma total proteins and triiodothyronine were increased, while plasma total lipids and cholesterol were decreased by the supplements. in conclusion, dietary supplementation with cr yeast (600 mg/kg) and / or mannan oligosaccharides(1.0 g) improved productive performanceand immunity and reduced total cholesterol ofgrowing japanese quails.

full textEf®cacy of chromium-yeast supplementation for growing beef steers
This experiment was conducted to determine the ef®cacy of feeding chromium yeast to growing beef steers. Animal growth, gain ef®ciency, and blood glucose kinetics were determined in 24 beef steers (initial body weight253 4 kg) fed a corn silage-based diet supplemented with 0 (control), 100, 200, or 400 mg chromium from high-chromium yeast/kg of diet dry matter. Intravenous glucose tolerance te...
full textSupplemental chromium picolinate influences nitrogen balance, dry matter digestibility, and carcass traits in growing-finishing pigs.
Four trials were conducted to determine the influence of feeding 200 ppb Cr as chromium picolinate (CrPic) on DM digestibility, N balance, and carcass traits of growing-finishing pigs. A 15% CP corn-soybean meal diet was fed during the grower phase, and a 13% CP corn-soybean meal diet was fed during the finisher phase. In each of three trials, crossbred barrows (six littermate pairs) were used ...
full textPhosphorus fractions in manure from growing pigs receiving diets containing micronized peas and supplemental enzymes.
Different livestock feeds manipulations have been reported to reduce the total P concentration in manure. Information on the influence of these dietary manipulation strategies on the forms of P in manure is, however, limited. This study was, therefore, conducted to investigate the effect of diet manipulation through feed micronization and enzyme supplementation on the forms of P in swine manure...
full textThe Use of Sesame Meal in Diets of Japanese Quail
This study was conducted to investigate the effect of different levels of sesame meal (SM) on performance and carcass characteristics of Japanese quail. One hundred sixty day-old Japanese quail chick were equally distributed into 16 cage pens and reared form 10 to 42 days of age. The treatments consisted of SM0, SM50, SM100 and SM150. The diet for SM0 treatment had no SM (control), while those ...

The goal of this experiment was to investigating of effects of different levels of nano chromium (N-Cr) in diet on egg quality and blood chromium content of japanese quail. Two hundred and forty laying japanese quail (45 day old) were randomly distributed to 20 experimental unit with 12 birds in cage pens of 40 × 80 cm. Experimental treatments include: 1) control national research council (NRC,...
